Assorted third-party resources that I think are worthy of a mention, in-keeping with my philosophy, or have found a use in my own work:
- Single-file public-domain/open source libraries with minimal dependencies (a list)
- suckless - from their about page:
"Our philosophy is about keeping things simple, minimal and usable. We believe this should become the mainstream philosophy in the IT sector."Though we would not always agree on a common definition of 'minimal' and 'usable', I have found much resonance with their philosophy and objectives. For a time I used some of their tools. The primary point of divergence, if there is any, is probably my preference for a less programmer-oriented definition of usability - I prefer to work with graphical systems, for instance, rather than in a text-based shell. I look forward to elaborating on my own philosophy in more detail very soon.
